Karl Edwards, the recent Director of Strategy and Impact at Teach First, will be joining ImpactEd Group from mid-March to become the new Managing Director of ImpactEd Evaluation. Other senior appointments to the evaluation practice will be announced shortly too.

After a period of handover, Karl will take over the reins from Owen Carter, the Co-Founder of ImpactEd Evaluation, who is leaving his full-time role with the organisation at the end of this academic year, after eight years. Alongside other projects, Owen will continue to lead an international stream of work for ImpactEd Group in Australia.

Speaking about his appointment Karl Edwards said:

"I'm thrilled to be taking on the Managing Director role at ImpactEd Evaluation, an organisation I have admired for a long time as it has built excellent foundations with a brilliant team. Our education sector faces significant challenges with finite resources and it is critical that we do more of what works, and less of what doesn't. I can't wait to get started and stand alongside our partners, helping them to do exactly that."

Commenting on the hire, ImpactEd Group Directors Jonny Boddington, Dr Chris Wilson and Elin de Zoete, put out a joint statement saying:

“We are delighted to have attracted someone as high calibre, passionate and driven as Karl to be the new Managing Director of ImpactEd Evaluation.  At a turbulent time for the education sector, our evaluation practice’s work to support partners to maximise resources and impact, feels especially pressing.  We are confident that with Karl’s leadership we will be able to deepen and widen the service we can provide.

“As Karl joins, we also want to share our sincere thanks to Owen Carter, for everything he has done to build and shape our evaluation practice into what it is today, giving so much back to the sector along the way.”

ImpactEd Group continues to expand in response to partner need and is currently also recruiting for another Research Director, to work across practices.
