ImpactEd Group to support Etio in new major Department for Education (DfE) project: Attendance Mentoring Pilot Expansion (AMPE)

We are excited to announce that ImpactEd Group will be supporting Etio (formerly Tribal Group Education Services) to deliver a new major Department for Education (DfE) project: the Attendance Mentoring Pilot Expansion (AMPE).

The three-and-a-half-year pilot aims to take a mentor focussed approach to address the attendance crisis, focusing on pupils who are persistently absent. The service is to be rapidly mobilised and implemented from October 2024, targeted at persistently absent pupils most responsive to mentoring using a bespoke process.

The pilot findings will help build an understanding of effective practice and delivery models, by testing interventions better to understand what works. As a result, a robust evidence base will be gathered in a school-friendly way.

There are multiple, complex factors contributing to the attendance crisis, including pupil anxiety, pupil safety and disengagement, altered parental working schedules and cost-of-living pressures, which have predominantly affected those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Led by Etio Project Director, Laura Bell, the project will leverage mentorship as a direct-to-pupil intervention in a selection of secondary schools within ten priority geographic areas.

Owen Carter, Director of ImpactEd Group, "We are excited to be working with the DfE, Etio, and our other partners to support the delivery of the Attendance Mentoring Pilot Expansion. The robust evaluation of this project will provide a unique opportunity to help the sector understand more about what works to improve attendance."
